Trying to decide on new ATV
#1
In the next few months depending on how my job goes I would like to purchase a new ATV.
One advantage Kawasaki has over the other brands for me is the dealer is only a few minutes away.
I have not test ridden any of the ones I have narrowed it down to because I still am not sure of my buying situation with work.
Who is better with the warrentys Kawi or Yamaha?
The three I have looked at on the net and narrowed it down to are
BF 650
yamaha Grizzly 450
Yamaha Wolverine 450
The wolvering is a little cheaper but I have not seen one in person. Do they really ride like a sport bike but with the advantage of 4x4 in the mud?
Beside for the extra power of the BF 650 over the Grizz 450 is there any other thing that should make me choose the BF?
How are dealers about letting you ride the machines?
I know you guys will be brand biased so I will ask the Yamaha guys as well.

Unless you are a skinny twig, the wolverine won't be much fun in the mud, because it has no Low range and no diff lock. So it can't turn big mud tires. The Grizzly 450 has the same engine as the wolverine, but with a low range and diff lock.
The BF 650 is the best of your list, if you want a mud machine, get the 650 straight axle. Less maintenance. If you want a trail machine get the 650 irs. Smoother ride, better control in rough terrain.
Warranties are generally useless. Talk to your dealer before purchasing one, 90% of the time HE /SHE will decide on what is/isn't covered. The warranty company will base their decision on their report.

no mater what kind of mod you do to anything (car truck or atv) they have to prove to you that what you did was the cause of the problem, if there was one, so no.
and im a yamaha guy but out of your choise i would go with the bf650, they have great power.

I used to have a Kodiak 450 (same exact quad as the Grizzly 450), and now I have a Brute Force 650.
Buy the 650.
It's a better quad in every way...power, abilities, etc.
The Wolverine is a good quad but not as capable as it could be. If it has a front locker, IRS, and a little more power, it would be an awesome quad. But the Brute out-does it in every way.
Feel free to ask me any questions!

The Brute is a V twin that is a very nice engine. I would try to upgrade to a fuel injected machine... I just got a new 08 BF750 and it is a monster.

Ok in that case since the Grizz 660 is the closest I see compared to the brute 650 or 650I How does it compare to those 2.
One thing i have just noticed about the grizz is you can switch between 4wheel and 2 wheel without stopping. Am I correct in saying you have to stop the brute before switching?
Is this even a issue that adds value to one over the other?

Griz is a good machine, but I believe the BF650 or 750 will have more value. It will have a better fun factor, and the V-twin purrs like a kitten compared to single cylinders.
I have heard the power steering is nice on the Griz 700, but the '08 BF750 is a great trail machine judging by mags and owners of them. If you're not a power junky the griz will be just fine. After owning a vtwin I won't go back to a single.

I am sick over mine. I love it, so I would suggest you go with the V-Twin.
The 660 Yamaha is nice, but it is not a Brute Force.
Just ride them, you'll see....
as far as comapring the 450's you not even doing a fair comparison. You are asking about the Kawa 650 because it prices well compared to those machines. The dealer didnt lie to you, you would be better off with the 650 over the smaller displacements.
Best of luck and happy buying!
