i have a boyou 300 4x4,and the engine seems to be making a knocking or ticking noise,only happen when i rev it,not at idle,and only when im moving,sounds perfect when in neutral,also when i turn my headlight on it runs like crap,if i hit the gas it will die,any help would be great

 

What year is it. have you replaced the valves,rings,etc.

 

What a puzzle.... Can you give me anymore clues??? Is it coming from the engine or the driveline?

If you disconnect the battery while its running, will it stay running?

 

it is a 1989,have not dont any work to it yet,if i disconnect the battery when it is running it will die,it sound like it is coming from thr engine,hard the tell because it only happens when im moving,i cant really get down there and listen to it close.

 

Well, it should run if you take the battery off. That's one problem you have. Could be the alternator or rectifier. You should check all the wiring carefully to be sure nothing is disconnected or badly corroded.

The fact that it only does it when its moving makes me thing its in the driveline or read end. Could be the transmission. Hard to tell w/o seeing it.

 

i tried to listen to it a little better and it sound like it is by the front of the motor,by the exhaust

 

Is exhaust leaking out? That will make a poping noise. Have you ever adjusted the valves?
