Removing forwards drive
#1
I was hoping someone can help me?
I've a bayou 89 4x4 and the coupling for the front drive has worn out and the replacement is going to take a few days to arrive, well I was wondering if I could dismantle the forward drive and still use the quad, only running on the rear wheels?
I hope this is a goer as our summers don't last long?

Alright guys,
I through caution to the wind and I gave it a try? and it works, the steering is a lot lighter (obviously) and it seems to have quickened the "Auld Ghurl" up a little. More than a little, but otherwise no side affects (evident???).
Could/ Would someone tell me if, this is a big "No! no!. I really am a complete novice at anything to do with engines and really appreciate any help and advice were its obvious to the trained eye.
It seems a waste of the few sunny days we get a year, for my old quad to be lying up waiting for a part to arrive when the sun is scorching
I've become quite attached to this "Auld Ghurl" and wouldn't want to be doing her any unnecissary harm.

I was riding my 95 without the front drive shaft for a few days when the rear ujoint of the front shaft went out. It seemed fine to me. I hope you ordered the kawasaki one because the aftermarket one did not work for me.
