Yes I was there. Won 1st in the 4x4 limited and 2nd in the 4x4 unlimited drags. I've got some spray now too so it should be fun if we ever get another big race there again.

 

Yep, I agree with what FFB said above. His 730cc Fundy quad recently beat my 800cc FST quad in a sand drag race.

PROS:
With that said, I'm very happy with the performance of the BBK on my quad (it runs pretty good in a drag race considering its still in XC racing/trail quad set-up). One thing I will say that it made a HUGE difference to my BBK motor after I installed bigger carbs (36mm). I was not as happy with my BBK until after I got the bigger carbs installed. I didn't notice any difference in my gas mileage before and after the BBK.

CONS:
I have had a problem losing coolant...not sure where its going, so it must be leaking into the cylinder and burning off with the a/f mix. I have recently tried changing the head gasket and shaving the heads, but to no avail. Its not a big deal so long as I top off the coolant after every ride. Its not leaking into my motor oil and not leaking on the ground, so its not a big problem so far.

FYI:
Fundy makes a good motor BBK, but IMO they are a bit pricey compared to others...plus you have to pay extra for shipping across the US/Canada border if you live in the USA. Other BBK / internal upgrade options are available from builders located in the U.S. include FST, AMR, Flynt, Mike Chapman, etc.

You could order the kit .. OR.. this is what I did.. Find out what parts you need, then order them individually yourself. Put the parts of the kit together yourself - like the pistons, cams, gaskets and so on.... I saved a bundle. Do that especially if you know a place where a bud works and gets/gives ya a deal on stuff...

 

I agree...I ordered the FST 800 BBK and installed it myself...saved a ton of $ that way. Plus it was kinda fun to know I built it with my own hands.

If you order a kit and go that way then you'll get the same motor as if one of the builders did it. However if you decide to go with off the shelf parts like weisco or JE pistons, web or hot cams, and good ol boy porting Then you'll save alot of money. BUT those motors don't make nearly as much power as compared the ones with the custom builders parts. If you want to have an awesome motor and save ya some $$$$$ the get a BBK from one of the top 3 builders. Fundy, AMR, or FST. Send them your heads for the porting, if you want it ported, and assemble it yourself. IMHO

 

thx for all the info you guys have been great. I think ive found someone to do my engine work.His shop closed but he still builds.That way i dont have to go far and im guaranted an excellent job.Was considering Turner but ive choosen Flyntc.

 

Good choice...I'm sure Flynt will build you a good motor, and I think Flynt has more experience working on these Kaw. V-twins than Turner does anyway (at least that is my impression).
