Default New to automatic trans got a ?

got a brute 650 just wondering whats the top speed for low range because we ride in creeks and some spots we get going bout 30, just wondering if thats bad on it. Also when u shift from 2wd drive to 4wd should u have to move bout 5 feet before it engages or is there something wrong with mine

I only use my low end on steep hills, when towing, or in DEEP mud, 95% of the time im in High. the top speed of low? I have no idea ive never went much faster then 10 in low. If you run in low to much when not needed you will smoke your belt so be wary. As for the 4wheel drive, yes you do have to roll it ino gear. ruffly 2-4 feet I think

Probably around low 40s. IT is good to use low gear as much as possible to reduce belt wear. Use it on trail were you are constantly going slow (id say 15-20 mph or slower), mudding, climbing, or anything that puts some load on the motor. Keeps your belt good and tight longer and no slippage.

alwaysride is correct, 4x4 Low range is the best for slow going, even w/my 750BF I use 4x4 Low in the slow going rough terrain, hillclimbs & so forth. Once I can avg the speed over 18mph & out of the rough stuff, I then put in back in High. I have done 30mph in low range as well but not anymore.

Switching between 2WD and 4WD.
You can press the toggle switch on the right side handlebar anytime you want, but it will actually swtich only if the right condition is met:
> Speed must be between 0.5 mph and 12 mph.
> As you noticed, ATV must travel a few feet (4~5) for the dog gears to engage.
