Default No acceleration

I have a 93 Kawasaki bayou 300 4x4. IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHILE IN NEUTRAL OR IN GEAR. IT STARTS AND IDLES FINE. I CHANGED THE SPARK PLUG JUST PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I TOOK THE CARBURATOR APART. THE TIP ON THE PILOT AIR SCREW WAS BROKEN. I CHANGED IT AND THE ATV RAN FINE FOR ABOUT A HOUR. THEN IT LOSS ACCELERATION AGAIN. ANY IDEAS?

Where is the tip did it get into your motor or maybe stuck in the carb?
Make sure your filter is clean and your exhaust is not plugged up in any way.
Also it might be electroniic but I would try everything else first.

First I would take of the cover to the carb where the throttle connects -this is the black plastic on the right side of the carb held on by one screw w/washer - and make sure that you dont have a broken cable, this should move when you move the thumb throttle. Next I would take of the rubber boot that is at the rear side of the carburator and use a mirror while the machine is running (make sure the atv is clean and dust/dirt/debris wont just fly in) and try revving it either directly from the carb or from the thumb throttle. As you do this look in the rear of the carb and make sure the slide goes up. If it doesn't, use something that wont scratch your carb and raise it manually - even your finger should work as long as your machine doesnt normally backfire. If it moves fine and your bike revs up I would say you have a bad or incorrectly installed diaphragm at the top of the carb. These carb's slides are operated by vacuum from the diaphragm. Let us know what the verdict is. Hope this helps. BTW if you need a breakdown of the carb you can find it here http://fiche.ronayers.com/Inde.../Group/Carburetor(1/2)

Thanks for the help. Will try these suggestions. About the tip of the pilot air screw, it was still stuck in the housing of the carb. I removed it and replaced the pilot crew. I will post what problem ended up being once I get it fixed. thanks

LA Cajun are you running a stock air filtter or an aftermarket with the lid off? I have seen bikes that have had this done to them and they don't produce enough vaceume to lift the slide and they had to get a lighter slide spring like in the Dyno Jet kits other than that it could be a bad diaphram like esonnen said.

I'm using the stock filter. The most confusing thing to me is that the bike both times ran ok for a good while before the problem begins. The bike is at my hunting camp. I won't be able to try these things til I go there on Friday. Thanks for the help.
