Hayashi, is there a reason why not to put rad out of harm's way? I keep my rad clean and take my Highlfter rad cleaner on poker runs to keep the kawi running cool. I have thought about putting rad on top, looks cool also.

It seems the factory original location seems to be the most logical place for most average riders, for efficient cooling and protection against foreign object. If cooling seems to be the issue, then use Engine Ice or some sort of high heat transfer rate coolant. The best way to judge is to install a coolant temp gauge and monitor the temp - KVF engines run best at around 175 to 190 F. Cooing fan would com on at around 192~195 F.

That is a good idea with a heat gauge. A lot cheaper also. I don't use Engine Ice because here in New Brunswick we may only get 4 months of real hot weather. As I stated before, I keep my rad clean. I hose from motor out after every trip.
