1996 KAW 2510
#1
i JUST BOUGHT A 1996 kaw 2510 with about 1000 hours on it. The 1 st owner has installed gauges on it. After about 10 min of running it starts to smell hot and the gauge is bouncing between 220 and 280. He told me he had just serviced the radiator Is it a closed system or do I have to do anything special to check for an air pocket. if not how hard is it to change the thermostat. any information would be appreciated

Here's where most people mess up.
If you open the coolant cap thats under the seat, you're guaranteed to get an air bubble.
To do it right, lift the front end up and take the cap off the radiator while running till the bubbles are out.
If you overheat this, its a guarantee that a head is warped.
