2000 Bayou 220

i think you have a problem with the float and/or fuel adjustment. On teh bayou, i odn't know where the idle speed adjustment is... does it run, just very high, when in gear?
Here's what *I* would do - unless the seal is REALLY bad from carb to intake...
(my default answer is to always CHECK THE SPARK PLUG - its 3 mins to check, and it is frequently A culprit, if not part of the problem)
get a factory manual
buy a carb adjustment screwdriver from ebay for 20 -30 bucks it is WELL worth it, and I am healing up the back of my right hand because i "forgot" to get mine
find the idle speed adjusement
set as low as possible
find the fuel mixture screw
read manual for default settings.. generally all the way to zero then back out 2.5 turns ...
I would set to 2 turn outs
fire it up...
adjust the idle speed again, to as alow as possible (this will change)
COUNT THE TURNS enrichen the mixture until it is obviously running rich..
then turn it back to 2 turns.. and screw it in until it dies.. count the turns...
and then set it from there (assume its 1 turn out to where it dies, and 6 turns till its too rich)
I would say okay, there's a range of 5, I like being on the slightly lean side... so
5/3 = 1.667 to 3.33 turns is would *I* would consider to be the working range...
add that to the 1, and your working range should be 2.667 till 4.33 ...
Make sense?

buy the rebuild kit and a manual, try resetting all the jets to stock location first.
i doubt its a float problem, it would ether starve your engine or flood it out. of which you have nether problem.
i would still look at your main jet and see if its worn
