07 BRUTE FORCE 650SRA SHOCK UPGRADE
#1
HELLO,
I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS UPGRADED THE REAR SHOCK ON A 2007 BRUTE FORCE 650SRA. THE SHOCK ON MY BIKE IS SOFT AND BOTTOMS OUT WITH SOME WEIGHT. I WAS THINKING OF REPLACING THE SHOCK OR LIFTING THE REAR WITH SOME SORT OF LIFTING BRACKET. IS THEIR ANY SHOCK FROM ANOTHER BIKE THAT HAS THE SAME DIMENSIONS AT BOLTS UP BUT THAT IS STRONGER THAN THE STOCK SHOCK? OR MAYBE A STRONGER SPRING THAT I CAN BUY?
ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD HELP.
THANKS

I believe that Highlifter sells a heavy duty spring that will fit on the rear shock of a Prairie 650/700 or BF650sra. You might check with them to see if they still sell it.
Another option you have is to charge up the rear shock with more nitrogen gas...I think that should stiff it up some.
Also, you can replace the rear shock with an Elka rear shock...I have an Elka on my twin peaks (same quad as the Prairie 700) and it works great. Only downside is that its expensive! I think I paid about $800 for my Elka rear shock.
Happy trails...

2lman,
Good tip. If I recall correctly, I think you have to mount a stock V-force shock a little differently on the Prairie/BF650sra so that the remote reservoir is pointing in the right direction and doesn't get in the way.

I'm gonna look into that shock or maybe do that with the adjustment rings. i would love to buy some Elka shocks but wow they are expensive and they dont budge nowhere in prices. if not i'll just have to buy the lift kit from highlifter and at least i'll get some height clearance in the back as well as the front.
Thanks,
Thanks,

how did you make out on that shock? did you buy a new one or was there enough adjustment on the other?
