Transmission/Shift Lever Problems..
#1
Hi guys. I'm new to this site, and I hope someone can help me out.
I have a '97 Kawasaki KVF400 Prairie 4WD ATV, and a couple days ago, after riding, my Gear Shift Lever, which is usually "tight" against the body when in Neutral, all of a sudden became very loose and just hangs there. It appears that there is a "plate" underneath it that it should be locked into, however, it isn't. I can still engage the Low/High/Reverse gears, however, the plate only "follows" the Lever in the High gear. I hadn't used it in a few days until today when after maybe 25mins of riding, while in High gear, I lost everything, like it went into Neutral, and I heard funny noises, like it was trying to dis-engage itself. I came to a stop as soon as I heard it, then it re-engaged itself (without me moving the Gear Shift Lever). I parked it ASAP and came online and googled my problem, and found this site after some searching. Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks for your time.
