i have a 2003 kawasaki mojave 250 it won't start but a guy told me to check the valve timings if you know what else to do beside the spark plug and clean the carb please help me fix it

 

check spark
change fuel
check compression
check timing

compression, fuel, fire, and timing are the basics, right? if you have all 4, its adjustments or fuel.

 

if the timing is off it wont start? we replaced the plug and clkeaned the carb.

 

it could be timing if its out that bad..these will run if their advanced or retarded by a tooth or so on the cams, but wnt run if cams were timed with the piston not at top dead center...im not sure how much clearance there is with these stock but i know with performance cams you will smash valves if the cams are out of time...did it run before?

 

no i did not i traded my dirtbike for it

 

They have had some problems with stators. Check valve adjustment and do a compression check.
