06 brute force 650 info needed...?
#1
My brother-in-law recently passed away. He had a 650 Brute Force with a solid rear axle. The owners manual I found in his garage is for a BF 4x4 650i, isn't the "i" for independent rear suspension? It is not fuel injected.
By poking around in other forums I've read the 650 SRA is a slightly modified 650 Prarie (front frame and Brute Force Plastics).
If I don't buy this machine I will still be the care taker for it till my nephew turns 16. What do I need to really keep an eye on?
Is there a fuel cut off switch on it? He never turned off the fuel like I do my Rancher when we hauled them around.
Thanks.

There are subtle differences between the IRS and SRA 650, other than the rear suspension set up.
One of them is the electrical fuel pump on SRA 650, instead of vacuum pulse type on the IRS.
Yes, there is a OFF position on the fuel petcock near your right knee area under the air box as you are sitting on it. You may also disconnect the fuel pump connector (since it's electric type) in order to deter youngster from unauthorized riding. And you can also disconnect the ignition coil connector, ignition key switch connector, etc.

Hey I have an 06 650 brute force too but with sra....it is new to me....bought a few months ago with 190 miles on it...anyways...I was wondering if you or any other brute rider has had problems with the seat coming loose when ya sit on it...I latch it and it seems tight and secured and then when I ride it a short ways on rough trails it comes unlatched..the latch looks fine and appears to be hooking well....I was wondering if something is missing where it goes into the plastic up front? there is a slot there in the plastic but nothing around it....is there supposed to be a rubber insert there where the tang on the seat goes in? Any help would be appreciated...this is my first atv and I love it so far except for this annoying seat issue....well happy trails....Maineguide

Seat will come off ONLY if it is not installed correctly.
It's little tricky, especially if the center black plastic on the underside of the seat is already flattened (not at an angle anymore), probably by the previous owner. Sometimes the tab would break off (because someone was sitting/riding on the seat with the flattend tab) and it may not be there anymore. Don't ask how I know this!
> Remove the seat and first check if the center tab is there.
> If it's there, get your heat gun out and reshape it so it's at an angle 20 to 30 degrees from the seat surface.
> If it's gone/lost, you will need a new seat.
There are 3 things on the underside of the seat to be hooked to the quad.
> Front Tongue
> Center Tab
> Rear Pins
You kind of have to bend down the middle of the seat to get the center tab to be hooked - this is where the most mistake is made.
