I've got a 96, never had a problem. three of my riding buddies also have lakotas and have had no trouble. I have abused mine severly and it still keeps going. I'd say they are isolated cases

2000MOJAVE, My son took out the clutch on his Lakota. He was really abusing it to do it though. He was dumping the clutch into second and speed shifting it constantly for a whole summer. Under normal riding you won't have a problem. Also note his quads not stock either.

MY 2001 LAKOTA IS HARD TO SHIFT REALLY HARD FROM REVERSE TO 1 ST GEAR I LOVE MINE BESIDE THAT STOCK FOR NOW BUT NOT FOR LONG MODS I'M GOING TO DO TO IT.
