I have just purchased a 87 mojave motor, and the reverse shaft needs to be replaced. i was wondering if anything else would go wrong. the previous owner was going foward and thru it in reverse by accident, and snapped the reverse shaft off. I went to my local cycle shop, they said its common that people do this with a quad with reverse. If you guys have any inputs on what else should i purchase before a crack the case and just replace the reverse shaft, please let me know. thanks...

 

these older mojaves had weak tranny shafts. they have been since updated by kawasaki. so when you replace the shaft(s) buy them new from kawie. i put a used one in a quad i serviced once and the owner broke it again. so we wound up replacing with new anyway. his broke when kick starting it. and make sure that your cable that keeps it from going into reverse is adjusted properly. but as far as knowing what to replace youll have to disassemble it all the way first
