Hey guys,

After replaceing the shock on the back of the quad I cranked it up, took abit because it had been over a month since it had been cranked. It ran great once started and for about 4 mins after when i took it to about 20 mph.

The quad then began to "miss" and the display was flashing. The entire display. The neutral and reverse lights were both on.

My first thought was possibly one of the plugs. But I was wondering if it was something else electrical ?

We did not bump or disturb anything changing the shock.

Got the answer to your problem, there's a module on 02's right above the fuel shut off switch above the belt housing that's went bad. Simply unplug it and stick a cheap 3 amp diode from radio shack in it's place. This should take care of your problem, if it's still in limp mode you need to take off the belt housing and flip the belt switch back to the "on" position.

Why or how changing the shock could have flipped the belt switch inside the belt housing?
And if indeed the switch got flipped then it must have been hit by the belt. Then it means the belt needs to be inpected for wear an tear. You can't just flipped the switch on ON position like nothing happened because it will happen again.

If the entire display is flashing, you have a havoc in your electrical system. It looks like something got disturbed in the charging system or ground wire when the OP worked on the shock. To confirm, when engine is idling, check the voltage on the battery terminal. If it's less than 13 volts, there is a problem in the circuit/wiring of charging system or ground wire. Since the voltage regulator/rectifier is near the rear shocks, check that as well.
