Default 05 Brute Force 750 oil drip?

I just found this site and it sounds like a great place to ask some questions about my new to me brute force. It is a 2005 750 4x4i with 455 miles. All stock motor and drivetrain. I have only ridden it 20 miles and everytime I park it in the garage it marks its spot with a few drips of oil out of the overflow tube comming from the lower left side of the motor under the pull start. The previous owner had the thing tuned up and oil changed at a local Kawasaki shop right before I bought it. The oil level is correct, and everything seems in order. Whats going on??
I also have a couple of other questions. What does the 4x4i mean vs just 4x4?
Last one. This is my first independent rear quad, also the most powerful one that I have owned. My previous ride was a 03 Suzuki Vinson 500. I loved it but needed something that I would not have to push hard all day long on the trails. We ride over 100 miles some days in West Va. The first 10 miles on the stock 25's scared me, I thought the thing was going to roll on every corner. I have set the shocks firmer and have installed a set of ITP mudlite XL 26x12-12 rear and 26x10-12 front on STI alum rims. Now it handels like its on rails. My question is. Is this O.K. for a stock set up. The previous owner had a new belt installed, the check belt light came on and he just told them to put a new one on why they were checking it over. I ride hard, but I do not rock climb or mudbog, I just do not want to tear the drivetrain out by going bigger and wider without putting a clutch kit or better axles in it. Thanks for any and all information. I just want to get it set up right for the first big ride in a month.

4x4i = independent suspension, 4x4,solid rear axle. If you are getting a few drops, could be the breather hose, (not overflow) is either restricted, and pressure is building up and forcing a little oil out, or the tube has been damaged or modified by the previous owner,so now the oil leaks out . 26" tires on a quad that size will not bother a bit, and as you have seen, have made a nice difference in the handling.

Thanks for the information. This morning I checked the breather (thought it was a overflow) and the tube was kinked. Fixed it then rode it for ten minutes or so and no oil so far. This really makes me happy, I thought I had a problem.
As far as the tires, I was just worried about running 8 inches of extra total width on the tires.

Its not so much the width you need to worry about, its weight and traction. A wider tire puts down a larger footprint, less weight per square inch, so you get better "floatation" on soft soil, mud, sand, snow, etc. More surface area can also mean more traction, especially if the tread is very aggressive. Huge tread mud tires will put extra strain on the drive train, they dig in and put more power to the ground. If you have a trail or hardpack/rock type tread, it will be fine, 26 is not very heavy, even a mud tire in that size would not put undue strain on your axles or belt, unless you bury it a lot and dont use low range. I'm glad I was able to help you with the oil problem, no one likes a leak on a new machine !!

Leak is back!! I completly cleaned out the little plastic bowl at the end of the breather, even ran a Q-tip up into the crank case and felt no blockage. The tube has no kinks in it anywhere. What else could be going on? This thing is like new only 465 miles, my 89 work truck is house broke. Why does my brute pee on the floor?

I am trying to guess what you meant by the little plastic bowl. Can you post a pic? I am working on my 750 right now and I may be able to help with your peeing problem.

I said bowl, but I guess it is more of a bottle. Mine has a clear little plastic bottle at the end of the breather I guess it is a anti suction device.
Is there any vent tubes up top that could be pinched?

OK, that makes sense. More detail the better.
Is it like semi-see through, about 3" long and 1.5" in diameter and located by the left foot side when sitting on the quad?
If yes, that's just a catch-can which doesn't catch much because it has an open end. It is connected to the weephole of the water pump mechanical seal. From there, either oil or coolant can leak because one side of the seal is oil and the other side is coolant. You need to replace that mechanical seal.

And you might need to replace other seal/gasket if they seem to be deterioated as following:

110611119 GASKET
110601964 GASKET,WATER PUMP

So i guess that would be under the engine rebuild section of the shop manual? Any reason for that seal to go out on a 565 mile bike? If you have ever done one is it a pain or fairly simple?

The seal replacement is in the Cooling section not the engine rebuild section of the manual.

My 2003 700 has the same seal and it is still holding good after 8 years and 1000+ miles. And my 05 BF 750 is good as well. Don't know why yours is peeing.

Never done on quad because mine never leaked yet. But I've done on cars and it's fairly simple. You might need a bearing puller or press to press out the seal from the alternator cover. Or just use a right sized tapered puch and hammer.
