Default 300 Bayou needs starting fluid

Hi everyone,
My 87, 300 Bayou will not start cold without a shot of starting fluid. After she warms up, she starts fine. Any advice?

Thanks

Either, the spark plug needs to be changed. Or the carb needs to be changed. Don't 100% gurantee im just thinking it may be it due to my experiences. Also, that's what the choke is for. It may be repaired if your using it. Also the choke could be too rich or too lean causing hard starts. Also battery issues also could be a problem. And again, cold start can also be caused by oil that is too thick. W30 and w40 can cause the motor to start bad in the winter time or just in any cold weather...

Happy riding.

I checked the compression. After about 4 cycles of the piston, it is at 80 psi. It goes 20, 40, 60, 80 and holds there at each compression stroke. I googled it and found the spec to be 70-100 psi. I just don't know if it should jump to 70 psi on 1 compression stroke. Anybody know? Thanks again

Check your valve lash. It could be the cause of low compression
