Default 2002 650 Prairie oil leak

For the past few months my '02 650 Prairie has leaked oil. It's a small leak that seems to be coming from an open ended hose that attaches to the crankcase not far from the drain plug. This hose was protruding through the skid plate by maybe a quarter-inch. It has some type of bowl/filter type thing in line and I have no idea if this hose is supposed to be attached somewhere or if it's some type of drain hose. If it's a drain hose, what is causing it to leak or drip oil? The pic is the underside of the bike. I'm hoping that someone can identify the hose and why it might be leaking and better yet, how to fix it. Thanks.

Your water pump mechanical seal is leaking. The seal separates the oil side and water side of the engine. It can leak either oil or water if the seal fails.
