Why do you think it's a carb problem is the plug is wet after is does it's thing?

Here is what I would do. Get a can of ether and when it does it's thing spray a little ether in the carb and see if if pops or even lights on the ether.

If it dosen't you have an ign problem.

You might check all the vent lines on the gas tank and carb also.

yes plug is wet. if i dry it with air hose and hold it next to the engine you can see it sparking. already tried the either and it will pop with that. was leaking at first wich is why i started messing with it. the rubber piece was gone on the float needle wich i replaced and top needle was bent replaced that also.

Does it run ok or is it rich as a pig when it's running? This is going to be one of those things that are going to be hard to diagnose over the net.

Next time it quits pull the plug and see if you have spark. If it quits like you turned the key off I be you have an ign problem and not fuel.

Wow, a well, I'm officially out of ideas.
I will think about it somemore and if I come up with anything I will let you know.

And now just a story that means nothing other than how weird things can get and how wrong I can be.

Raced a car last night. All was well and it ran fine. Went to the track today and preped the car to go onto the track. The car started and ran for a few seconds and died. Starter would not turn the engine over. Acted like a bad starter. Trouble shot for a few minutes. Driver said it felt like the engine was hydro'ed. I thought it was a bad starter. Then I looked at the carb and gas was EVERYWHERE!!!! Looked like a garden hose broke.

Crewchief (me) was wrong about starter; driver was correct. I thought no problem, I will have you on the track in about 10 minutes. Pulled the float bowl and was going after the needle and seat. Played with the float and was going to take the needle and seat out. Driver said, well there's the problem. Crewchief said WTH are you talking about. Driver said the float, look at the float!!! It's full of gasoline!! Float was a Holley brand plastic POS float.
Driver 2 crewchief 0.

Crewchief put in new used float and car ran great.

Driver got 4th place in main event.

Driver said he is going to replace the crewcheif if he does not get better at troubleshooting. Crewchief said that if the driver does not drive better next time he is going to another team with a better driver.

The end.
