Default I found the problem..

Picked up an 86 Bayou 300 in pretty rough shape a few weeks ago. After buying a battery and a new Clarke gas tank for it, couldn't get it to fire up. I suspected spark and I may have been right....

I'm no expert but that appears to be a fried CDI and Regulator. Ugh.

Due to the assumed severity of these failures, is there anything else I should check on this thing before throwing a new CDI/REG on it?

That looks pretty rough. Id say if none of the wires going to it are burnt or bad looking that the issue was probably just in the box itself, but thats only an assumption and you know how it goes when you just assume... lol

That's normal. You should probably try a new spark plug
