I have a 1997 Prairie 400 4x4 with no spark. I changed the plug and it ran for about 30 seconds and stopped. Now I can't see any spark at all. I think my choices are the coil and the ignition module but the module is quite expensive so don't want to use a new one for troubleshooting. Has anyone had the same problem in this area with theirs?

 

Maybe it's the spark plug wire not seated in the cap or on the coil. I think the cap screws onto the wire but not sure. On the coil I think it is pressed on.

On coil, maybe you can unscrew the little plastic nut which puts compresses the little plastic ring onto the wire and holds it onto the coil. Pull the plug wire off and see if you have spark at the coil? Not sure about testing this way, but seems to make sense.

If you have spark at the coil, then it's either the connection, wire or plug cap.

Try another plug first.

You can replace the wire with automotive plug wire from the auto store for about $2. Just make sure it is the same Diameter.

 

Thanks, I will re-seat the wire at the coil side. I wasn't sure if it came off or if it was a permanent connection. I did try another plug but have the same results. I'll let you know what I find but may be a few days. Darn work seems to get in the way of the personal time.
