Default 2006 Prairie 360 "BELT" light flashing

Greetings to all. Brand-new ATV user here.

I just traded a boat for my very first ATV. It's a 2006 Kawasaki Prarie 360 4x4.

Everything on the machine seems in good condition, except that it has the "BELT" light flashing, and when she is running, I hear a sound coming from under the black cover on the right side, about shin level. That sound could be a torn belt, but not sure.

Any thoughts?'

Thanks, and it's interesting finding this place.

Oh, and what is the "Diff" handle for? Does anyone know where I could find a user's manual online?

Thanks.

Also, I'm curious if they make a plow for this machine? I have a plow for my Craftsman lawn machine that I'd like to adapt, if it won't hurt this machine...

Typically when BELT light is "flashing", quad's maximum speed is electronically limitted to 5 mph only. Is it true on your quad?
If the speed is limited, check the belt condition and belt switch position inside the CVT housing.

The whizzing sound is the noise from dc servo motor from the engine brake actuator activating. Nothing to worry about.

That yellow lever is a mechanically variable Diff-Lock. If you pull toward you, you are limiting/locking up the front diff gears. Harder you pull, harder you are locking up.

Hayashi,
Thanks again for the reply!

No, it runs at least 25 MPH (I have not tried to go any faster) but light is definitely flashing.

The sound I hear gets louder when RPM's increase, when out of gear. Sounds like a torn belt to me.

BUT there is another sound that concerns me... Usually, when I'm taking off, it makes a screaming sound from that same area. It's like the sound it makes after shutting off, but a lot louder. That sounds like some kind of servo. Should it normally "scream" when I take off? Is that the brake releasing?

Thanks for your help!
