Default 2005 Brute loss compression

A few years ago I bought a used 2005 KW Brute 750. A few months ago it started sputtering and running bad. After looking at the normal things I decided to take it into the dealer. They made several adjustments to the Carb but also checked the Compression. they told me it is down to about 70%. I took it out this past weekend and confirmed it is slowing down. The dealer told me that it would need to be rebuilt at a cost of about $2,500. What are my options? Should I try and repair? Sell it as is? Can a buy a new engine?

Thanks,
Steve

Thats $2,200 labor. You can almost buy a created new motor for that let alone fine a good used motor on ebay from some writen off ATV.

Go to any small engine place and geat another quote to get the top end kit put in. Unless there more to the story and the whole motor is shot.
Cant see why a 2005 motor is totaled already.

You can maybe even get a big bore job done for less money. I,d go on this site and ask . They really seem to know there stuff on your machine.

Thanks for the info. I thought that sounded a little high. I think I'll get a few more quotes.

$2500 is absurd. you can buy another 05 bf750 for $4000!
you can do it yourself for 1\6th that cost! carbs were a known & common issue on the 05 bf 750. you'll find a lot of data on it searching the kawi forum.
