Default KLF185A Kawasaki Bayou 185

I just bought this bike and I am trying to figure out what year it is. It needs a battery and I guess the carb needs cleaned or it has a fuel pump. I'm not sure I have been looking all over the Internet and it seems that no one really knows they just wing it. It will start with carb cleaner or starting fluid but won't stay running unless you keep spraying it. Do they make a carb repair kit or fuel pump repair kit. I am going to try to order a clymer manual for it if they make one but till then can anyone help? Thanks

Here is a 1985, does it look the same. They made the 185 from 1985 up to 1988.

Here some info on it. Kawasaki 185 Bayou Information | eHow

The 185 manual is hard to find but the early 220 has the same chassis and is a manual that will still help. Kawasaki Bayou and Prairie ATVs Repair Manual covering Bayou 220cc, 250cc and 300cc as well as Prairie 300cc ATVs from 1986 thru 2011

I appreciate the info. I ordered a clymer manual yesterday. I have researched till I'm blue in the face. I believe I have the 85 model. The problem I'm having is that there is no carb rebuild kit. I have found replacement carbs but no rebuild kit for the 185. The 220 is a completely different carb. Why is there a fuel pump and carb on these four wheelers? Makes no sense. Thanks again

Ok my questions is this. Why can I not find a carb rebuild kit for this 85 kawasaki bayou 185? I have found one for every other machine out there but this one. I can find parts separately but not a kit. If I wanted to put an aftermarket carb on how do I know what size and which one will work? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Try looking at the carb and seeing a model number, be it Mikuni or Keihin (Really the only two companies that the big brands use) and looking on google for a kit for it.

The carb is likely in many other machines then the 185 bayou.

here is the home page for Mikuni Mikuni American Corporation

And Keihins http://www.keihincarbs.com/home.html

The carb is a Mikuni. All it says on it is made in Japan and Mikuni 00RP. I have looked for a rebuild kit for it but with no avail. I can't seem to find a model number. What size came on the KLF 185? Thanks again
