sorry for the late response but i tried to shift it into high with the engine turned off but it still won't go there is a bottom plate in which it has to go into in order for the tie rods to shift i figured it might be the tie rods but i haven't tried adjusting the linkage yet which I'm not really sure how

There is a linkage adjustment on the Praire and it is quite simple to adjust. Havent done one in quite a few years but should pop up in a search. There are two parts that need to line up and each has a hole that needs to line up to each other. It is under the plastic around the shifter itself. If I remember correctly you put the shifter in a certain position then adjust the linkage adjustment until the two holes align. I can't remember the fine details but it is easy to do. You might also have a bent shift fork inside and that will take some serious work to fix. People have a habit of forcing the shifter or trying to shift with machine still rolling, it has to be dead stopped! Tyr searching "Nyroc's ATV website" they are experts on Kawasaki machines, that is where I found a lot of my info when I owned a Praire 300.
