I am about to put a new piston in my 87 tecate 4 for the first time and I need some input before I buy the piston kit. What is the easiest way to tell if it has been bored out, and does anyone know what the stock bore is supposed to be? Should I measure the size of the piston? Thanks.

The T-4 isn't boreable unless it has had an iron sleeve installed. The stock bore is 67.4mm. If it has a sleeve installed, the piston will usually have a ".035" mark on the top(or something similar). This is how much it has been bored from stock. If you aren't sure, take the cylinder to a machine shop and have them measure the inside diameter. Wiseco make 8 different piston sizes for the T-4, from stock up to 2.1mm oversize. The T-4 uses the same top end as an '87-'89 KX250. Hope this helps. Oh yea, don't use Vesrah gaskets(head and base). I had trouble leaking antifreeze on mine until I went to the dealer and got some Kawasaki gaskets, didn't leak a drop after I put them in.

just the other guy just said ,you can also use the total electical componets from the kx 250's 87-89 and it will eat all honda'sout there but when you install the stator you have to put it in upside down or it will try to run backwards...
My tecate has also been upgraded with +3 A-arms\lonestar swingarm\works shocks\LRD motor.
But i had to put it up for little while. the wife just bought me a ROLL DESIGN\AXIS\CURTIS SPARKS NATIONAL QUAD,,In which i'm riding in the A-class as well as the +25 class in the nationals

Thanks for the info. I am beginning to find out how tough it is to find parts and info for these. Any idea on plastic also? My front fenders have been cut to accomodate a big piece of **** pipe that I am replacing so I would also like to replace those. I will probably have to get lucky on ebay as I know the plastic has been discontinued from the factory. That's ok though. I like having a vintage machine, plus it looks so tough.
