hello I am new on here and was in need of some new ideas I just bought a 1996 Lakota 300 Kawasaki I rebuilt the motor with a new exhaust valve old one was bent it has an tight set a new cylinder from Kawasaki new piston and rings I had a machine shop in stall a new connection rod and bearings and used a clymer manual to put it all together it’s timed right on has a rebuild kit in the carb but it’s hard to start and when it’s running it sounds like a camchain raddle but has no play does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this

Something bent that valve, did you find out what it was? Also the valve clearances must be set at the top of the compression stroke, are you sure you did this? I assume you did check the cam lobes and followers for wear when you had them out, it can be quite bad on Kawasaki 300 engines.
