Bayou 220 has gas on engine block??
i know I don’t post much but I try to figure my issues out first. I can’t figure this out and need some help please. I have an older bayou 220 that has gas all over the top third of the left side of the engine block. I have a picture below for reference.
i have not had any issues with the gas leaking or with the engine block but I brought the four wheeler home the other month and I had it in my garage.. after a week I went back in there and the whole place smelled of gas. I googled some and found that maybe my carb is leaking gas, but I don’t know how. If you look at the picture it looks like something exploded and gas flew everywhere. I used the four wheeler for a while and never smelled gas or had any issues.
i cleaned off the engine block and noticed it I just on the left side of the block. (The left side if you are sitting on the four wheeler). I can’t see where it’s coming from.
where do I start?

For the fuel to be that high up on the engine, I would think a leaky tank is the most likely cause. Early 300 tanks were steel, don't know about the 220. If it is steel, it may have "pin holed" due to rust.
The carb has a drain hole in the bottom of the float bowl, usually with a tube attached. If the float needle sticks open, fuel runs out of that drain hole, but this would be coming out lower than halfway down the head.
