Bayou 220 engine on a Kdx 220 ?
Go easy yall. I'm new to messing with bikes and atv's. I'm mechanically inclined but lack any experience with working on these. I have had this old 95 kawasaki kdx 220 for years sitting with no top end on the motor. Got it that way for 100 bucks. Otherwise it is a solid bike. Good frame n plastic etc... Been thinking about dragging it out and a buddy of mine has a kawasaki bayou 220 I can get for 300 bucks. Needs all sorts of work except the engine. I imagine the 2 engines are different and that the bike is made fot higher Rpm and lighter weight. I'd appreciate any input I can get

Worth checking the on line parts drawings and lists for both machines, if the numbers are the same, the parts will be too. All I do know is the chain drive KEF300 engine is suspiciously similar to the shaft drive KLF300 engine, so Kawasaki, unlike Honda, seem to have gone in for standardising parts between models as much as possible.

my camshaft for my Bayou KLF 400 4x4, bought a camshaft from a Prarie KVF 400 4x4 same part number but the cam lobes are not the same
size. A side note the part number for bayou camshaft was changed from 49118-1129 to 49118-1201. The Prarie on the other hand is just 49118-1201
with no change in part number. Good luck with your rebuild happy riding

Bayou 220 engine on a Kdx 220 ?
Hello folks, A couple of years back I punctured cylinder in my 99' kdx 220 at the ridges and quick version, little bits of metal went through the lower and top finish of my motor totally annihilating the packaging and everything inside. It's not repairable. At any rate I'm looking to possibly do a motor trade and am considering what you all would suggest. I figured it is cool to put something like a kx 450 motor in or something in since I as of now have another two stroke, however I couldn't say whether it would fit without cutting and re-weld the casing which I would prefer not to do. Anyone have any involvement in this? In a real sense searching for anything to place in it if it's Kawasaki's motor. In the event that a four phase motor won't fit, I would attempt a two cycle motor as well. I just idea the 4 stroke would be a pleasant expansion. I additionally not certain if putting the heavier four cycle motor would destroy the suspension, I'm quite light (150... possibly 165 after the isolate is finished) so I couldn't say whether it would be too hard on the suspension. I'm simply struggling discovering a kdx 220 motor to return to it without paying for far too much for delivery. Additionally on the off chance that you know anybody that has a motor laying around, let me know! Any heading would be incredible! Much obliged folks! 192.168.100.1 192.168.1.1
