KLF300 models are unusual in having 1980s car style ignition. So pos feed from ignition switch to a 12v coil and "ignitor" box and a pickup coil next to flywheel, when the ignitor gets a signal from pickup coil, it sends a neg pulse to 12v coil, just like the old contact breaker points system.

hi, mine is a 2000 model and has a CDI, pickup coil , heater control plus relay all within the loom. One of the wires goes through the heater control unit to the coil. It is factory wired so not something someone has ad-hock changed ..... do you think it will be the CDI

Just checked the 2000 parts list and it has an ignitor not a CDI, as they look similar I don't see how you would know that it has a CDI. Also what does the "heater" heat?
