CabinFeverKodiak,
Appreciate the encouraging words about the Piaute. Must not let my wife forget her rain gear or I will be in deep yogurt, not to mention I must remember to take mine. We do most of our riding in SW Arizona "where seldom is there rain". I rode the 01 trail out of Circleville last year and it was a good ride. The switchback was a
memorable section, however, I agree with you it was not all that bad if you didn't let it mess with your mind. One woman did upset her ATV on it but I don't think she was a very experienced rider. Fortunately, she was not hurt. However, as you know, even experienced riders can do something foolish and have a problem.

I enjoy the chit-chat about the Jamboree, or anything elses for that matter. Hell, I just might learn something. But I need some inputs to start this database thing. Please send your info (when you get time) to Prairie650@earthlink.net. I have yet to receive one email on the subject. Come on guys, lets get thing rolling. It could really benefit all of us.

Your problems and solutions, tips and tricks, to anything relating to ATVs will help us all. I'm not "bitching", most of us have wivies or girlfriend to do that. Okay here's the sales pitch, What do we have to do, to put into this ATV today" "PLEASE SEND EMAILS TO Prairie650@earthlink.net

Thanks guys

P:S: Don't be offended by this, just help me, help us.

Just to clarify Lance, do you want only Prairie 650 info or did you open this up to any model or brand? I can't offer much on the 650 since I've only ridden it around the dealer parking lot. But I'd be happy to give you a boat load of info on my Y2K Kodiaks.

Nothing personal there cabnfeverkodiakText, but I'd kinda like to keep it just to Kawi Utilities. I've got nothing bad to say about any other brand, they all make good bikes. Kinda like "Chevy / Ford / Dodge thing that's been going on for 80 yrs.. Thanks for the interest. Maybe you could do the same thing for Yamaha's...

Lance.

Hey Lance,
You are right, this is not the proper place for chit-chat. I really think you have a great idea that could be of benefit to all of us that have bought 650's. I want to encourage all you other 650 folks to email your problems and fixes to Lance. I am going to email Lance the one problems that I have had so far in just a few minutes.

Well guys, this database isn't going to fly. I had only two(2) emails in 14 days. The email address (prairie650@earthlink.net) will stay for another 7 days, then it's gone. Thanks guys, you know who you are. I thought this was a good idea, but guess I was wrong. I'd rather spend my time riding anyway.

Ya'll ride fast, hard and have more fun than the law allows.

Good Riding,

Tatanka

Tatanka, I haven't had any problems yet from my 650. If I did, then I would have sent you an email.

I think this clanking when on then off the gas IS a problem. We just haven't figured out what exactly it is yet. On mine the deflection on the belt is 50% out of spec. Meaning I'm losing power. I need to get the pulley puller to get it adjusted. There's no way those guys at the dealer will touch it. My front brakes both squeak for some reason. I would say that ANY quad will have stuff like this happen since quads are a complicated system of components. I think it's a good idea that you want to document this stuff so people can check it as soon as they buy the quad.

92LT,

Thanks for the repy.

I understand why you haven't emailed. However, an email as to the good stuff is also important to the rest of us, for three reasons: 1) it tells us that there are good machines out there, 2) that you are interested in the bad things that could develop in your machine and that you will keep an eye on them, and I hope never have a problem, and 3) well I had a third reason, but escapes right now. (i'm sure it was a good one too) Anyway;

What I think it boils down to is, Information! As we have all heard, "information is power" and with this power we can help the each other in maintaining our machines as they should be.

Heres an example: My brother owns a "99" Prairie 400 4X4 with 3000+ miles, never a problem with it. The other day I asked him when he last cleaned the air filter. His reply, "what air filter". He cleaned it the next day. Is there long term damage? Who knows, it's a Kawasaki, it may run for another 10 years, time will tell.

Good maintainance and heading off trouble early is what will keep a man made machine running for years.

Sorry I got on a soap box. But I think when an individual sinks $6-7K into a machine, they should take care of it.

These are just my opinions, take'm or leave'm...

Tatanka, have fun, more than the law allows.....
