A Question to all you experts. The solenoid for my winch has packed it in and im wondering if I really need it or can just wire it up directly, and if it is wired up directly does it pose any saftey issues such as a fire?

 

I would be very careful to what you do with your Warn wench. The White-Rogers solenoid that Warn uses can and will still cause fires. I know because I lost my house on October 14, 2001 from a fire that was started by the wench solenoid on my Kaw 650. It is my understanding that even after the Warn wench recall last July they are still experiencing problems. My recommendatins is to let your dealer handle it that way if there is a fire your insurance company can't come back on you and say you started the fire because you changed the solenoid or direct wired it. Be very careful 'cause trust me you don't want to go through a house fire! By the way we all got out safe.
