I wish I had a scanner. But I am home, sick from riding too long in the cold. I know this may look dumb without the book's pictures, but you have an actual view. Wording may be a bit paraphrased. Other than checking deflection, belt condition, and this drive pulley length described below, there is not really anything you have to do to replace the belt. If you are at high altitude and do not have the high altitude spacer, that may mess thigs up. If the drive pulley is messed, or the driven pully, I am sure you know the consequences.
Belt deflection, push with 13lb, 22mm to 27mm deflection. If it is out, use spacers.
Drive Belt Removal
-Remove Drive pulley
-Before removing belt, note the direction the belt goes so you can put it back in the same direction.
-Lift the drive belt off the pulley
-If you put on a new belt, install it so printed words are right side up as reading from the right side of the quad.
-Inspect or replace belt
-Install Drive Pulley
Installation is the reverse of removal
Drive Pulley Removal
-Remove torq converter cover
-Remove Recoil Starter
-Hold recoil stater pulley with hook wrench (special tool 57001-1101)
-Loosen Drive Pulley Bolt Note that it has left hand threads so turn it clockwise to loosen.
-Using drive Pulley Puller 57001-1429, and hook wrench, remove the drive pulley from the crankshaft.
Nyroc's note I cant really see what that Pulley puller is, the hook wrench could be made out of a bar or something.
Drive Pulley Installation
-Clean mating surfaces of crankshaft and drive pulley with an oilles cleaner like acetone ot trichlor
-Install drive Pulley. Place washers on bolt with concave toward pulley. Install Bolt.
-Using hook wrench and a socket wrench tighten (lefty tighy) bolt to 93Nm or 69ft-lb.
-check distance between surface of crankcase and collar on drive pulley, using special tool 57001-1498 (flat plate thing just to help you measure this, I think you can easily come up with something)
Nyroc's note. It look like the belt is installed, from the picture.
Also, this measurement appears to be the perpendicular distance from the surface the converter cover mounts to ,and the collar which is the furthest out portion of the pulley, which is just outside of the bolt and washer.
-adjust length of the pulley to 149.85mm to 150.95mm (5.900-5.943in)
-adjust length if it is too short by purchasing another pulley cover, painted red, part #14041-1148, or if it is too long, get the blue one, 14041-1150
-if you still can't get the length right, replace the drive pulley assembly.
Nyroc's note, that measurement tool makes it easier to measure this, and the measurement is between the tool and the collar, so the book gives additional measurements here to use when you have the tool to measure from. The red cover is .7mm shorter than the non painted one (14041-1149), the blue one is .7mm longer than the non painted one.
