Gas Petcock on 650

Do you really have to shut off the gas petcock all the time? The 650 does not have a gravity fed gas system. Just want to hear others comments.


One who forgets to turn the petcock off.

I have had mine since June and have never turned mine off.

I've had mine since September and it hasn't ever been off to my knowledge...[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

I think I turned mine off once during trailering, but that is the only time I remember.

on all the time,just hope that fuel pump will last a long time.

One of the guys I ride with had a problem with gas seeping into the cylinders when the ignition was on but the engine was stopped (pumped up the tire on his wife's machine often). The fuel pump would pressurize the system. If the gas is off, then it won't have this problem. I make a point of not having the ignition on unless the machine is running.
