Hey guys the dealer gave me my shim back so when I have my belt replaced. Here's a picture of the elusive thing. It is located in the driven pulley and from what I whitnessed on about a 25-40 min job but be careful with those surfaces and remember when you remove it check the defelction again and add the next size down if needed.

Shim pic and more

Hey Dustin. Thanks for the info on the shim picture. I've heard a lot about these shims, but I've never seen one as I don't have my service manual yet. Now that I've seen one I can visualize how they work and it's pretty simple. Thicker ones make your belt run lower on the clutch face while thinner ones make your belt run higher on the clutch face. No brainer!!! Do you know if they have heavier after market clutch springs yet?

From what I understand the Engine Mods and Clutch Mods right now can only be gotten through Mike Penland the factory sponsored 4x4 racer. How I have no idea as I have searched the Web for phone numbers and such... I do know Kawasaki lists optional clutch springs when you go to their site and enter your quads serial but what their for or if they are heavier I have not the slightest

Thanks Trailhog couldn't have done any better. I'm not sure if the clutch kit is exactly what you're looking for I just happened on it one day.

Hello fellows thanks for the address for Dennis Kirks site but unless I'm missing something there is nothing in the section pertaining to Kawasaki 650 transmission. There is no pictures, amount of dollars for said trany springs or anything discribing the unit what so ever. I tried 4 times to access the information from this site and so far nothing that even looks like a trany setup, any help would be great maybe I'm holding my tunge in the right spot. Thanks anyway!

If you order the Dennis kirk atv catolog and look on page 161 bottom left corner theres a clutch kit from EPI price is 160.99 and the Dennis Kirk pt is 38-1005 and the next page top right corner offer you primary clutch springs for about 15 dollars a pop.
