A little advice please?

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and new to atv ownership, although I've ridden a bit before. I've got a 2002 Bayou 220. I was thinking of getting the K&N Power Kit for it. They claim up to 15% power increase and I would love to have an edge over my neighbors 2001 220.
First, are their claims correct about the 15%. Will I notice any increase with this smaller engine. I'd like to see more off the line power and speed for tight trails rather than top speed from a mod like this. Is that the result I could expect?
Second, how difficult is this to install? I am no mechanic, but I usually can do or build anything I decide to within reason. Do you think this is best left to a qualified mechanic?
Also if anyone has any other suggestions for mods appropriate for a low end quad like the 220. I would appreciate it. I've got to live with this until the better half outgrows her 220.
Thanks for any help and suggestions.

PS. To any other 220 owners out there, I am by no means putting the 220 down. In fact I'm having a blast playing with this thing. I think I'm going keep one around even when its time to trade-in/upgrade.

You should definately feel a differance in the "seat of your pants". I don't know about all the 15% stuff, but it will give you a noticeable gain throughout the entire RPM range as well as a slight gain in top speed.

Thanks 2000mojave for the response. I think I'm going to go for the power kit first then maybe a new pipe for it. I'm starting to read up on tires also so who knows.
Thanks again.
Ps. Nice rides on your site.
