650 Skid Plates and Boot Covers
#1
Do I need to upgrade my stock skid plates or boot covers. I do not anticipate going over jagged rocks on a regular basis but I was wondering what the experiences are of any 650 owners who have used their ATV's for a full season?
I was thinking about upgrading to 26" 589's or Rawhides. Will these affect my 650 quickness for sport riding. I just want to be able to handle some mud on occasion too!

I am thinking about a new front skid plate. The stock one fills up with snow and weeds so fast and it is hard to get out unless you pull it off. The center and rear ones don't seem as bad so far. I think without the holes in the front plate it will keep alot more stuff out of there. I just can't justify $90 for a plate right now. Maybe if they just made a plastic plate that goes over the stock one like a snowmobile it would help and might be cheaper. I will know more of what the 650 needs when I hit the mud in the Spring. I do know it needs tires for sure. I am getting 27" Mudbugs or Gators next week hopefully.

Roofer,
I see you like toys like trucks and ATV's as much as I? Where is Princeton at? I live in Moorhead. I plan on trying to get in touch with other ATV'ers in MN and hopefully we can do some group riding? By the way, great pics of your 650. Mine is hunter green.

Cool, thanks! There is a ride coming up on April 6th if you wanna come and meet some others from MN. The post is in "Where to Ride" in this forum. I live about 8 miles east of princeton. A few miles from 47 and 95 between Cambridge and Princeton. It would be cool to have another 650 there, as nobody I know besides myself have one. Although one of my buddies may get one soon. Do you have ICQ or AOL IM? A few of us Minnesotans talk almost every nite. This is how we plan rides and such. We aren't a club, but a few of them are in clubs. Let me know.

I only have Yahoo chat but I can download ICQ. Yeah it would be fun to have a couple of 650's on the ride. I am not sure if I can make that one or not yet. It all depends on whether or not I get a trailer by then. I am kind of tapped after acquiring the 650 and all its accessories. Unfortunately I do not have a pickup so I have to pull my ATV on a trailer behind my Expedition. But we shall see. I will keep in touch.
