The tecate...... was it a good quad. My uncle said he had both a tectate and a quadracer 250 and he said that the tecate was a better all around quad. Is this true. I have never rode one. But how were they. Legendary? did they out run a quadracer or 250r?

the quadracer(model years 87-92) handled better and jumped better than the tecate. the tecate accelerated faster than the quadracer, but due to differences in gearing the quadracer actaully had a slightly faster top speed.

in order to have a good running tecate you must talk to somone that has alot of experience with them there are certian things that will go wrong with any stock tecate and they will know what it is and fix them any strong running tecate motor will kill the quadracer but the big thing is reliability if you have a knoledgeable dealer it will fly

The hot mod was to widen the Tecate's stance up a bit. Old magazine shootouts always had the Tecate behind the LT500 and Banshee in top speed....but always faster than the other 250's.

I have a Tecate4 and It is one of the best bikes I have ever owned. It is still all stock except for the FMF Goldseries exaust. This bike tears a hole in the wind. I also have an Lt250R and the Tecate4 runs circles around it. The Lt250 has a pro built motor and DG exaust. I encourage anyone to buy a Tecate4. They are a bit unstable jumping but I belive if i put some after market suspension on it it would greatly help.

That Tecate is pretty clean. Wish i would have picked up the tecate-3 that I was offered for $150. If I had only known...
