mojave hitting rev limiter?
#1
Just started modifying my 2001 Mojave. This weekend I installed a White Brother E-series silencer and replaced the airbox with a K&N clamp on filter. The carb has been rejetted with the largest main jet included with the Dynojet kit (134). It seems to run great through the gears. However, it starts to stumble at full throttle in 5th around 60mph. Is it possible that I'm bouncing off of the rev limiter?

Yes, it is possable and you probably are hitting the rev limiter. Mine did the same thing when I had an after market exhaust on it. It actually reved so much faster that I would hit the rev limit going through the gears once in a while until I got used to it, but like you said, on long straight aways in 5th gear it would eventually cut out. Try a 13 tooth front sprocket, you will gain quite a bit more top end speed and with your mods you won't even notice the the difference in the bottom end.

Well Grizz, you should run the machine 'till it does this and then shut if off and pull the plug. I think you could be running lean when WFO, since your using a clamp on and the 134 is what they recommend for stock air box. If the plug is white then it's a lean condition, should be tan like a grocery bag. Just a thought, any other opinions?

I was thinking the same thing stebob. Running into a rev limiter is a very distinc sound of braeking up thow, it's hard to confuse the two.
The larger counter sprocket and bigger main probably is a must. You can get a steel counter sprocket for $6.99 and the mains from dynojet are $2.50 a piece, I just got 3 and it was 10.50 wich included shipping.
