Well of corse u will have to change the chain!unless it is streched bad enough to get the sproket to fit.No u will not lose that much bottom end.

No, since your bike is new, your stock O-ring chain will work fine. Loosen the adjuster bolts on the swingarm and add the appropriate amount of slack. I've installed 11, 12 (stock) and 13 tooth sprockets on my Y2K Mojave with out having to replace the chain. *NOTE* As long as the rear sprocket is not changed (that is, increased in size), and is not worn out. Unless you have been doing some SERIOUS riding or abusing, my guess is the chain and sprocket are fine.

I'm running 13/43 with year old chain and rear sprocket and everything is fine. The new 13 tooth front sprocket was only $7 so I don't care if it gets worn out prematurely or not.

I noticed that with the taller gearing my Mojave was slightly less powerful at low rpm's but once it comes up on cam I am able to rev it out further in each gear and it no longer sounds like it is goingto blow up when wide open in 5th.

I also have a dynojet kit that helped make the quad more responsive. Just $57 in easy mods make the Mojave a lot better machine.

with that gearing and the stock tranny i am assuming you are running 20'' tires you must hit around 70

There is no way there is a 17tooth sproket for the mojave! There is no way it would fit in there. All i have ever seen is 11,12,13!
