Kawi Prarie 360 4x4 Invoice price and opinions....
#1
I've ridden 4-wheelers before. My wife and I are looking into buying two. Both 360s.
Our purpose is this: Trail Riding in Colorado and New Mexico on STEEP rutted, rocky, roads that you can hardly even WALK up.
I knew I wanted something 4x4, limited slips front and rear, with a low range, and comfortable.
I think we've both settled on the 360, so we want to know:
1) what is the invoice price? or what **should** I pay.
2) any last minute negatives about the 360 or why we should look at something else?
3) anything else you would suggest or recommend?
Lastly, I have searched through all the forums, I am a NooB, so I apologize if this has already been answered before.

Hey,
The 360 is a good 4x4. It has good power and rides with the best of them. The only thing on my new 360 is when I am on a incline some times I hear a honking sound. I called the dealer and they said that they never had any problumes with that on the 360. He said it could be the belt seating in or slipping. He also told me to ride it a little longer and it might stop. If not he told me to bring it in to get it looked at.
Kawi don't have warinty on belts tires or brakes. My dealer said they will go to bat for me and try to get it fixed if it don't stop. Other than that I like the 360 and the true 4x4.
The 360 books for around 5500. The lowest place I found the 360 and bought it from was in Detroit Lakes MN, @ Seabergs Power sports, after tax $5649. befor tax it was $5199.

I know you said in another post that you had already decided on the 360 but I think you owe it to yourself and your wallet to ride an Eiger before you commit to the Kaw. Price is close to a 1000 dollar difference and I guarantee the Eiger is NOT a 1000 dollar less quad than the 360.
I rode them all and bought one of each. Except my Pairie is a 650 . The seat on the Suzi is more comfortable than the Pairie but its suspension is a little stiffer too. I couldn't get the local Kawasaki dealer to come off more than 200 dollars from the 5690 asking price of the 360.
I got the Eiger for 4614, drive out! MSRP 5199.

Thank you all for the info!
I was just up measuring them to figure out what size trailer and it seems I can load two of them end to end on a 5'x14' trailer.
I asked the sales manager there how reasonable $5,100 is as an offer. He said that is VERY doable, but he'd have to double check how much he actually owes the ATV for.
So, I'll ride the Eiger, they have two of them there but don't have a Praire in.
the guy said he hadn't sold any of the 360s that cheap cause as soon as he gets one in, its sold.
I told him I don't mind waiting for two that are ordered to get a better deal.
Anyways, we'll see what happens.

Have you rode the 650
Get yourself 650 for $1000.00 more and get wife 360 . My wife has hONDA recon but likes my 650 but it seems alittle to big for her so I might trade in her 250 recon and get her the 360
Also If the 360 has the same stock tires (DUNLOP)AS THE 650 DOES .Figure on getting new tires for both .The stock tires really stink. I almosted flipped my 650 with them but never have same problem since I changed the tires
Just a suggestion
WOW does the 650 have alot of power
So me know how you like the 360

will do!
We are "trying" to keep things on a budget, is the only reason I haven't looked at the 650.
I have cash to pay for two 360's now...I could always invest it and by the end of the summer should easily have enough to do the 650...
the trails that we will do you can't go fast on, it is slow "rock crawling" with off-camber parts and LARGE rocks and ledges, winch mandatory sorta stuff. that is why I didn't think I'd need the power of the 650 so long as the quad has a good/decent low range.

you would real pleased , I have a 650 , my buddy just switched from a 350 rancher to a 360, the 360 is geared low , but that is what you want ,it is also has great engine breaking , holds back a little better than my 650. He got his for 5199 plus tax , list was 5499. The breaks are also the best in the industry. Hope this helps.

KEBC (Kawasaki engine brake control) is a feature exclusively out on the 360 and 650 only! No other quad has it. Variable front differential lock! Other ATV's have it either on or off. Sealed rear multi-disc brake! No other quad has that feature other than the 650. Towing capacity of 1100 lbs for the 360! Top of its class!

I bought a 360 and a 650. My wife likes the 650 because of its lower center of gravity. The 360 (and 650) is in for their 10 hour fluid change now (Good Times Sacramento, CA). I want to get another 650 and should have listened to the group - the 650 was only $1,000 more they said. Oh well - buy a 650 if you can afford it! The dealer will only give me $4,200 for it because its used and the buyer will still have to pay sales tax. I paid $5,384.62 plus $390.39 sales tax plus $21 DMV plus $4 CA tire fee for $$5800.01 out the door and have the paperwork. I will sell it for $600 less what I paid (i.e., $4,748.62) and you pay the sales tax. BUY a 650 if you can! If you can't, here's a GREAT deal on a red 2003 360.

Okay, been shopping around.
I found a dealer in Midland, TX which is about 2 hours to my south (about 120miles) that will sell a Praire 360 for $4999+tax/title/license.
No tax, cause I am "farm exempt." I knew that investment in 100acres of pine trees would pay off!
So, I just have to pay the rest of the junk, so I figure i'm out the door for around $5,300. I'm waiting for someone to give me a SERIOUSLY good deal on a 650 now.
The wife is the one who wants two 360's so we can save the $$. We don't really care about top speed, just enough grunt to get us comfortably up STEEP rugged mountain trails in Southwest colorado, New Mexico, and well...all over Colorado.
I really would rather have the 650 cause I'm a big guy at 6'3" and 235lbs. I figure I could use the extra "cc's" underneath, ya know? Also, I guess it's a testosterone (sp?) sorta thing...more horses make me more of a man. heh. My wife tells me I'll be just fine on a 360 cause we are expecting our first child and I should feel man enough knowing that everything works. (is this too much information yet??)
Soooooo.....I think I'll test ride them both, and see what I like and what she likes and go from there. I've found places don't want you to test drive unless you've inked a deal!! >=O
They haven't met me yet though! =\ I figure, I'm going to be dropping $10,000-$16,000, I better darn well be able to ride before I buy!! (father-in-law may be buying one at the same time, so 3 quad purchase, also another reason why I feel I can demand a better pricing than the normal person as it will be a 3 quad deal more than likely, and I KNOW! my father-in-law will get the 360, if it isn't the best, he doesn't want it.)
Okay, I'm rambling....Night all!
