Prairie 650 Tire Question
#21
Roffer,
Those Gators look great on your 650. I still like the look of the 589's better for some reason but I like the comments regarding Gators on hardpack AND mud. In addition, the Gators are lighter and seem like an excellent value for the money. Thanks again for your comments. I believe that the Gators will be my tire.

Roofer,
Would you get the 27" again or would you consider 26"? Just wondering here as I make my final decision before ordering. 26" should suffice for me but in your pics the 27" looks kinda cool.

I would get 27's again because I think the machine handles them well and going to a 26" from stock won't give you much, if any, more GC. Mine only measure about 26" with 5psi. I would guess the 26's would only measure 25 or so. I know a guy with 26's on his Cat, and he is trading up to a 27". I almost think I might go with 28" Gators if I ever got tires for the 650 again, but thats me. Like I said before, I can still easily outrun stock HO's with 27's. Personally, I think the bigger the tire a machine can handle the better it is. When riding with my buddies, it's either mudding or riding it like a sport quad. I can do both well with these tires and the bad 650. When I put 26" MT's on my Xplorer it was alot harder riding sporty, but great in the mud. From my experience a 27" tire on a 650 is great for both worlds. Sure there may be a better tire for this or that, but this combo makes a fun machine. If you want it a tad faster and don't care about GC, maybe the 26" is for you. I just think they are a tad small for this big bore.
