Have had my 650 about 9 months now and it doesn't want to idle now. Also the only way I can get it to start is to hold the throttle wide open. It doesn't matter the temp. out or how long I've been riding you still have to hold it wide open. Thought about increasing the rpm's on the idle by adjusting the throttle cable but I wasn't for sure if the problem was maybe something different since the problem starting too. If anyone would have a idea it would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day and keep safe!

Is it runnoing ok besides the idle?
If it is, then you probably just need to adjust the idle speed screw, but chances are there is something else wrong.Get the coke cables checked out, its a common problem on these machines.

It runs great besides idling and starting up. Thats why I didn't mess with the idle adjustment because I was afraid it was the choke or something else was that was messed up. Thanks for input.

your problem can be solved by turning off your gas, every time your not using your bike. The dealer service mgr. said there a defect in the carb. and this causes gas to go into the crankcase, also causing bad idling and smoke. One of mine 650's is being repaired, for major crankcase problems. I think its due to this problem; cost to repair is over $1600. I am hoping there will be a recall on this problem. Good luck with it. rg in la.

Since it sounds like you've had this problem too, was wondering if yours did the same. Sometimes when I try to start it the starter sounds like it's binding up. I haft to try it several times and even give it a few minutes between trys to get it to start some time. I know the battery is fine. So I was wondering if the problem you described would have something to do with it. Thanks for info.
