Hello there, im just writing to tell you the story of the 2002 Lemon KVF 300 4x4... 1st problem pipe fell off right from the engine manifold, 2nd was a allen key in the belt drive shot out through the belt cover apperently from the factory, 3rd problem- blown engine. engine was built wrong from the factory, had wrong rings in it, shop was surprised it lasted for the 7 months it did, they said it shouldnt have lasted a day. Even though it was 1 month out of warrenty they replaced engine with a brand new one. He got the KVF back 2 days ago soon as the loaded it off the truck coming from the shop, it grings going into gear, and while driving, throttle sticks and band knock in the engine.... He is now trying to get a new quad, they are calling kawasaki tomorrow to complain, this is not right, i think they should get a new one. Thanks for listening.

I had a KLf bayou for years and no problems,I guess it helps to make the engine right.That 290cc kawi is a tough motor and I think the prarie uses the same as the bayou 300.

 

Yeah they use the same engine except the KVF has a lighter crank. My Bayou has been flawless and i have pounded it for the last 2 years. I guess he just had some one the bad ones in the batch.

 

I had an old 300 Bayou years ago and it was extremely reliable. Sounds like your friend surely did get a lemon. I would be surprised if Kawasaki done anything since the atv is out of warranty.....but they may too keep a potential lifetime customer.
