The break in period on my Mojave is going to be up soon so I need to do the post break in service. I cannot afford to bring my machine to the dealer so the only thing that I am worried about is the valve clearence. I have worked on engines before and am pretty sure that I could do the adjustment myself. I am planning on getting a manual before I do anything. My two questions are, what manual should I get, the Kawasaki manual or the Cylmer and has anyone done a valve adjustment on a mojave and how complicated is it (how easily can I screw it up).

I would probaly get the Kawasaki manual. The clymer is probaly just as good though. I have the Kawasaki manual and like it alot. The valve adjustment is pretty easy. You'll have to take your fenders off and the valve cover. Then you have a plug in your left side engine cover and this will help you find top dead center. Just make sure the cam lobes are pointing away from eachother since the mark will line up in 2 different spots. Then they have the usual locknut and srew to adjust the valves. I'm not sure of the valve spec since mine are different with the race cams. You can get the kawi manual online at www.buykawasaki.com for thirty-something dollars and they ship quite fast.
