Well now that im in the market for a new Quad and that Ive narrowed it down to the kawi and yamy..I was wonder what evryones opinions on the subject where..You know..Likes,dislikes and PROBLEMS? I can get a 02 Grizz for about 6200 and the kawi just slightly less..I like the IRS on the Grizz but like the V twin on the kawi..So give it to me fellas..the good ..the bad and the ugly!!!

I prefer the swingarm. More fun when power sliding. I like the v-twin. When flying threw woods on Grizz, does not ride as good as P650. Just think of driving a monster truck vs. a sporty truck. I like to ride fast & that is why I chose the P650! Both are great bikes, but not any rock climbing down here. Just sandy trails with a lot of mud holes. Grizz can go threw deeper holes, but I go around if I can. 7grand alot of money to me!

If you think you need to have the most ground clearance, get the griz. Also, if you are really, really fragile the griz rides smoother than the 650 (the 650 rides pretty good, but not as good as the 660). Otherwise, I think the 650 has the best features overall. I ride with a friend that has griz a lot. I like them both very much. I just plain and simply still would pick the 650. I like the get up and go, the smooth sound, better brakes.
The 660 seat is shorter and softer. Makes for a cushy ride. worse for 2 people, and worse for using body language.
they both have their design flaws (boiling gas and cracking floorboard supports on 660, short belt life on 650). I don't think either one's design flaws would keep me from making the decision. The 660 guys all have fixes for the 660 flaws. Us 650 guys all have a fix for the short belt life (10 minutes to replace it). The 650 belt never breaks, just gets hard and starts to squawk. The 660 gas tank and carburetor problem seems to only be happening to people in some states, Yamaha is blaming it on oxygenated fuels. The fact is, the engine heats the carb and tank too much for the fuel mixes in some states. Does not appear to happen in NY.
They both have crappy tires, but I think the 650 comes with the crappiest tires.
If you live in NY, you should get mud diggin tires. The 650 better turns the heavier tires in the mud. The 650 has more torque than even a 700.
If I needed the IRS ground clearance, I would go grizzly. Othewise 650.
