Cut the burnt plastic away then scuff it up with sand paper and get some epoxy and fill it in it will be water proof and as good as new. Just don't run it before you fix it. It will suck to much dust.

You need to patch this before riding. The air filter comes before this place, so you will be sucking unfiltered air into your engine. You can kinda adjust the exhaust-just loosen all the connections and wiggle it around until it is further from your airbox, or you could just take off the whole airbox system and install a clamp-on filter directly on the carb. Both K&N and Uni make filters that will fit.
Do a search on this forum and you will find plenty of info on filters.

for sure do not run it like that. You can patch the hole using silicone sealer between layers of aluminum foil. You can swapp to a clamp on like mordr said, this is probably the easiest solution. If you stay with the stock air box then you need to make a heat shield for it. You can make one from sheet aluminum. bend it to curve around the pipe and then extend up to the bolt and sleeve above that hold the air box. Drill a hole in it and mount it between the bolt sleeve and the frame. Another easier way, but not as good, is to buy some heat reflective material like the stuff maier sells and stick it on the air box after you patch the hole.

Then you remove the air boxs and clamp it on to where the box went BUT you loose a lot of your water protection that you had with the air box. Depending on where you ride up there there is useally a lot of water on the trails if it is any thing like PA.

I had a heck of a time getting mine to fit with out hitting the airbox.I ended up shortning the headpipe with a hacksaw and using pipes I had to re-bend the headpipe to fit.Now it just melts the clutch cable!
