Hey there guys. How do you guys like you hmf slipon. I got one ordered in and there is a big gun and there is a white brothers. The HMF is the cheapest one because it is a slipon and i think that is the one i want. Does this pipe give you much more power and how does it sound. I have a K&N air filter and Dyno jets and i have a custom lift. And is it hard to take the silent core out of this hmf pipe. Well please reply and right down alot of details. LAter all.

I had heard that it was one of the quieter aftermarket muffs. out there. You'll need to rejet, if you change the airfilter too. Heard the Big Gun was the loudest. Good luck!

Scrode,
Please keep us up to date on this. I posted a similar question about the HMF a few months ago and the only response I got was that it was very loud. So I have stayed away for now, but very interested.

jpier1-- There is a(free) mod you can do to the stock muff. SEE nyroc's 650 site. He says: "it works".
BTW-- The HMF pipe that I heard in WNF last w.e. was NOT real loud. Louder, deeper tone than stock, but not obnoxious. I, myself, do not like LOUD. HMF muffs.( for the P-650) do NOT have U.S. Forestry Service Approved spark arrester, or didn't in MAY '02. If you ride state and Fed. land this IS a consideration!

Howdy,
I have the HMF slip on pipe on my 650. The quiet core isnt too loud. It consists of the racing core with a washer in the center to restrict the sound. I have opened mine up with a rat-tailed file. I like the sound. When I installed mine I had problems with leaks where the rear pipe bolts to the head. If you dont get all the leaks out you will have back firing. I think you will probably like the pipe. It made a power increase. I also have a Diamond G snorkel, K&N filter, and jetted. The snorkel made as much increase as the pipe. Have a goodun!!!!!

I like the idea of Nyroc's mod, because it is a "hidden" one. However, I do not have the proper welder, or skills. I wonder what a good welding shop would charge to put the end back on?

jpier1-- Around here, you could find someone to weld it for around $20-30, I would think.

Scrode, Mike Penland Racing has a muffler that is same as stock and delivers modded horse power. It includes stepped up pipe to muffler truly state of the art.

jlpier01, to weld the cap back on would only take a half hour so what ever a welding shop would charge it would be half or possibly the whole hour. Still much cheaper than a new exhaust.

You will get a much better air mixture at the carbs using a full system rather than a slip on, the extra dollars are worth it. If someone would make a slip on that used both stock head pipes, this would work well to.
