Lost Power
#1
I think I'm losing power on my P650. It just doesn't seem to pull as hard as it did before. Even before I changed tires and the driven spring, it wasn't pulling hard... Could my choke cable's be messed up? It seems to have power but not as much as it did new. I have about 140hrs, 1200miles. I am still on the original belt, but I checked the deflection and it's not off. Any ideas would be helpfull.

It could be choke, check your plugs to see if it looks like its running rich. My 650 had lots of power with sticking chokes but idled rough, ran rich, hard to start when warm, sometimes coughed choked and slobered.
Engine filled up with gas when left over night, this created the need to change the oil a lot.Problem is more noticable at low speeds
Even with sticking chokes its one bad --- quad. I unhooked my chokes but now its hard to start when cold, have to give it 5 pumps to start.
Will do a cable and choke spring job before winter sets in.

Check down where fast idle screw extension is located. one of carbs has a small pump that pumps gas direct into cyl i believe. This comes in handy when choke cables dont work or very cold starts even with a choke .A lot of carbs now have a pump even the wifes honda 350.

I changed the plugs about 1 1/2 weeks ago, to see if that was the problem. They were quite dark(rich). I am thinking about putting the diamond G snorkel on it with no other mods. More air should lean it out a bit. The bike idle's like it's brand new, no hesitation anywhere in the trottle, just doesn't pull as hard. Maybe I am just running too rich.

Inducing more air is a good thing, but if the chokes are sticking i dont think the problem will go away.
Get some new plugs and do some plug chops. This will tell you if you are rich. You are probably close to sea level so your jetting should me ok for no mods. The choke cable ,spring problem can be a real pain. Dont expect kawi to recall them soon.
